Gaining Ground for Next Years Garlic

Just last week I plowed up a small patch where I will plant my garlic next year.  The idea is to let the frost work away at the roots of the grasses and other perennials.  My plan is that next spring I’ll work this patch, plant green manure crops, work them in, and prepare a nice seed bed for next years garlic (to be harvested in 2013).

Here is a view of a patch of land on a nearby organic apple farm that will be planted in garlic next fall

A world turned upside down.

It is humbling how easy a tractor with a plow makes preparing a garden sight.
