Howdy folks,
Plans have been finalized for a Fall Harvest Market to take place at the soon-to-open Collingwood Community Food Co-op this coming Saturday, Nov. 17, starting at 9 AM.
I’ll be set up there, with a full spectrum of garden delights, including colourful and sweet root crops, leeks, onions, and lots more!
Kolapore Gardens will be joined by another great bunch of folks, Fiddle Foot Farm, from the Mansfield area. We’ll both have a diversity of storage crops available – so if you’re looking to stock up and hunker down for the winter, Sat Nov 17th is your chance to do so.
In other news, these past few days of warmth have been absolutely amazing, haven’t they? I’m still busily digging carrots to put into cold-storage and starting to work away at the list of things to get taken care of before Ol Man Winter comes with his characteristic multiple metres of snow!
The hens don’t seem to be fazed by the shortening days or cooler temperatures, as egg laying is at an all-time high – what better time to start savouring the rich hearty eggs that are so good at helping folks stay warm and comfortable through the cold, dark months. Each yolk is like a giant drop of sunshine, reminding us of the joys and pleasures of the long, hot days of summer and the sun that is so nourishing to bask in!
(if you have extra egg cartons lying around, I can always put them to good use)
See y’all soon, don’t forget that in addition to Collinwood I’m currently delivering to Thornbury, Ravenna & Kimberley on a regular weekly basis.
Bon apetit!
Mike
P.S. here’s a link to a video I just uploaded with some views of the gardens and the carrots I’ve been harvesting – Enjoy!
