Autumn leaves one last vibrant splash of fire and colour to kindle the flame inside in preparation for colder, darker months.
Yikes! The good news is carrots, cabbage and other cold-hardy crops are getting sweeter with each additional frosty night.
There are 4 weeks left of regular CSA distributions after this weekend. There is also room for a limited number of weekly baskets for folks who want to get in on this fall’s bounty but haven’t been CSA members all year.
I’m currently putting together plans for a winter CSA. Distributions for that will occur twice a month for the months of Dec, Jan, and Feb – I’ll post more info about that soon.
This week I’ve set aside carrots, cabbage, radishes, mesclun, either red or cipollini onions, dill and garlic for the CSA, with the option to trade for radicchio, kale, chard, turnips, potatoes, cooking onions or extra carrots!
Here is a link to a great Sauer kraut recipe (it’s roughly half-way through the post).
Don’t forget to take time to soak up these beautiful colours!
